Who are we?

About Korpi
Korpi is a unique co-op boardgame about Finnish folklore and old times with a modern twist. The game has heavy emphasis in storytelling and player choices in these stories. Players choices have significant effect on the their game experience and how the player’s will be managing the challenges they face.
Stories have strong references to Finnish folklore, mythology and historical events, but they are not, nor do they seek to be, completely accurate depictions of actual historical events, recorded folklore tales or epochs. Source material has been used as inspiration for creative work rather than a direct guideline for how events have passed.
The game has several stories for players to choose from. Each story consists of one or more Adventure phases and one or more Battle phases. During the Adventure phase, the players explore the forest on the Adventure board and encounter various situations where they make choices that may enhance or impair their connection to nature. As a result from and adventure event, the players may gain or lose health, protection, artefacts or even weapons. All of which will play a role during the exciting Battle phase.
When the players reach the conclusion of the story, and epic showdown will take place on the Battle board, where the players will get to test their mettle against the villain or villains of the story.

What makes Korpi unique?
The game features a mobile application, which is rarely seen as a component for a boardgame. The application hosts the stories, events and more for players to explore through playing the game. Players interact with the mobile application through the UI and by tapping or ‘reading’ the game pieces or cards with the NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology. This enables and easy, seamless and fast way for players to engage with the application and perform their actions.
The application does not require internet access to play the game and only one mobile device is required for playing Korpi. The application also features step by step intructions for setting up each individual story and contains the storys background.
